One thing that you'll learn and you should always keep in mind is to take care of your diabetes first and your insulin pump second.

With the fast acting insulin that your insulin pump uses, it's critical that you test your blood sugar on a regular basis.  Most people check their blood sugar at least 6 times a day.

If something should happen to the insulin delivery, your blood sugar will rise quickly and in some cases will cause ketoacidosis (DKA).
