1/22/2001 Who says you can't plan a wedding with less than 3 months before the big day.  We're sure trying to prove that wrong.  And in the mean time, having a ball doing so.
Our first thoughts, were of a nice quiet church wedding.  Simple enough, but then Wayne comes up with the idea of having it on a carousel ride.  He made the arrangements with Castle Park and got the ball rolling.
1/26/2001

We purchased our ring set today.  The salesman was great and a big help.  We're looking to create the Bouquet for the wedding.  Checked out Wal-Mart for fake flowers to practice with, then when we get the right look, we'll create one with real flowers for our special day.
1/27/2001 Spent most of the day registering for gifts.  That was a lot of fun getting let loose in those store with a scanning device choosing what we wanted and wished for.  We both enjoyed that a whole bunch.
1/28/2001 We had our formal proposal at Castle Park, on the carousel where we'll be married.  We had the ride operator snap off a picture of me giving Melinda her engagement ring.  We were both really happy.
1/30/2001 The Pastor called us today.  He'll do the wedding.  He sounds really awesome.   We were told, he performed a wedding at Raging Waters a year ago and was so cool about getting wet.

We decided to save some money and print out our own invitations.  We bought a really nice kit from a local retailer that has everything you need to print invites, thank you notes and a few other things.
1/31/2001 Our plans for having our reception at our friends club house fell through.  Time to find another location for that event.  Bummer Drag!  Melinda and her friend Dana are going dress shopping this weekend.
2/03/2001 Melinda and Dana went out wedding dress shopping.  Melinda found a dress that she liked and put down a deposit on it.
2/10/2001 Designed and printed out our invitations.  You can view what we created by clicking here.
2/13/2001 Melinda wanted to take a peek at another dress shop she heard about.  Found a lady that made her own dresses, and at a much better price.  I even found a cool tux I'm considering.  It's a western style tux.  I'll even dress up with authentic boots and a cowboy hat. <grin>
2/16/2001 We got a much needed break from the kids today.  Dropped them off at a baby sitter's and headed out for some quiet time.  We went to the place where Melinda originally put a deposit down on her dress to get our money back, but we didn't realize that all sales were final.  No refunds or exchanges which really sucked..  They didn't even alter the dress yet.  Looks like we lost our deposit.

We drove around and found another dress place, and found a better dress for even less money.  We're saving about 400 bucks and at the same time getting a dress that Melinda likes even better.
2/23/2001 We spent the afternoon and evening shopping around.  We purchased Valarie's and Kierra's dresses.  We also purchased our goblets, and cake cutting set.  We'll get to pick those up next week after they have been engraved.
2/24/2001 Finally found shoes for Melinda.  Nordstrom's had a pair Melinda liked a lot.
3/3/2001 Finally got the bridesmaids measured for their gowns.  Both bridesmaids liked the gown that Melinda chose.  Melinda also had a fitting for the dress lining to do some alterations as well.  Pictures were taken and will be added at a later date.  Melinda was really getting worried about getting that done on time.
3/16/2001 We got our marriage license today.  That was a fun trip.  We drove to Norwalk which was about a 30 minute drive.  Stood in a semi long line for about 30 minutes and when we were called to the window, I realize I forgot my wallet.  OUCH!  we had to drive all the way back home, grab my wallet, drive back and we stood in a line that was 3 time the size than the first time we were there.  Bummer Drag!
3/18/2001 Had the entire day to ourselves.  We went to Church where our Pastor preaches at.  It was a good service and Pastor Roybal was glad to see us there.  We spent the rest of the day shopping around for a few more things.  We found a carousel cake topper we'll use for our cake.
03/24/2001 Melinda went to the dress shop today and tried on her dress.  She's as excited as can be now.  She commented on how hot it was inside that dress.  Hope she doesn't melt away!!
