Hi there!

My name is Wayne.  I'm also known across the Internet as PhlexTeck.  I've been an insulin dependent diabetic (Type 1) since I was 11 years old.  I've had my good days and bad days, but I have learned to deal with it and not let it control my life.  I'm 38 years old now.  I've developed some small complications but nothing I can't overcome.

Since I was diagnosed, I calculate that I've given myself more than 80,600 insulin injections and well over 96,000 pricks to my fingers for blood sugar tests.

Before I go any further, there is a ton of information listed on the following pages, it would be wise to click here if you use Microsoft Internet Explorer to add this page to your favorites, or you can simply press your CTRL+D keys to bookmark this page so you can return any time.  We update with new information all the time.

Diabetes is hard to live with to say the least.  Monitoring your blood sugar, planning your meals, exercising, taking your medication all all the other responsibilities that come with this disease are sometimes a pain in the butt.  But after some time, you get used to most of them.

I have a Guest Book set up for you to sign.  Please take a moment to click here and add your two cents so I know you stopped by!  Thank you so much!   You can also contact me by clicking here if you have anything to say or just want to comment about this web site.

As of November 2001, I will begin to use an Insulin Pump to deliver insulin to my body.  This is about as close to a cure as one with Type 1 Diabetes can get.  You can also take a peek at my pumping journal to see what I went through to get placed on the insulin pump.

I've also developed a web page dedicated for those that use an insulin pump or wish to learn more about pumping insulin.  Please check out my insulin pump page today!
